The last date to update your Aadhaar card for free is 14 June 2024 on the myAadhaar portal. After this date, updating your proof of identity and address documents will incur a fee.

Extension of Free Update Period

Initially, the UIDAI made the Aadhaar card document update facility free online until 14 March 2024 and later extended it to 14 June 2024 due to a positive response from residents. Therefore, the facility to update Aadhaar card documents will remain free online on the myAadhaar portal until 14 June 2024.

  • After 14 June 2024: A fee of Rs. 25 will be charged for updating documents online.

Offline Update Fees

Updating documents at physical Aadhaar centres will always incur a fee of Rs. 50, regardless of the date.

How To Update Aadhaar Card For Free?

You can update your proof of identity and proof of address documents on the myAadhaar portal for free by following the below steps

Step 1: Go to the myAadhaar portal


Step 2: Click on the ‘Login’ button. Enter your Aadhaar number, captcha code and click the ‘Send OTP’ button. Enter the OTP and click on the ‘Login’ button.

Step 4: Click the ‘Next’ button after reading the guidelines.

Step 5: On the ‘Verify Your Demographic Details’ page, click the ‘I verify that the above details are correct’ box and click ‘Next’.

Step 6: Upload the ‘Proof of Identity’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents and click ‘Submit’.

Step 7: You will receive a ‘Service Request Number (SRN)’ in your email. You can track your document update status from the SRN.
